Kent Magnusson, Born 1936, Washington Island, WI. A long time resident of
Oak Park, his life was a living demonstration of his faith.
His passions included his family, golf, bowling, watching the Cubs, his career
at Continental Bank and Quaker Oats/PepsiCo, and singing in various choirs.
He met Nancy, his wife of 50 years, when she was teaching Vacation Bible School
at the church of his youth in which he was very active. While serving in Korea
he started and led a Bible study with other men stationed with him.
When he returned from overseas he married Nancy and, after raising five
children, he opened his heart and home to more than 60 foster children, adopting
two while in his fifties.
Over the years he taught Sunday School and Children’s church. In various ways he
encouraged all of his children to get involved in ministry whether it was
singing in the choir with him or supporting them on teen mission trips.
He served as an elder, an usher, and sang for many years in the choir at Calvary
Memorial Church and served on the Board of Oak Park Christian Academy.
We look forward to the day when we will be reunited with him in Glory. And in
the meantime, he’s singing with the Angel choir and each time we hear the
thunder we can imagine he’s there on Heaven’s bowling team.
Kent is deeply loved and will be missed.
