Well, 2002 is coming to an end, and it has been another wonderful year
for us. We're in the middle of the 9th year of our honeymoon, looking
forward to number 10.
We're both happy with our jobs, and fortunate not to have been
seriously affected by the down economy.
Keffie and Wilson are both as cute as ever. She is just the sweetest
little lap dog that ever was. And Wilson, who is almost constantly picking
on Keffie like a typical bratty little brother, is just a little ball of
energy. They're both curled up in the sun at the front door as I write
this.
We had a couple of events of note this year, starting with Tracy's Aunt
Drue and Uncle Bill's marriage in January.
They seem every bit as happy as we are, and we are thrilled for them.
Don had a mini-class-reunion in early April. Mainly through the
classmates.com web-site, Don has been in touch with a number of classmates
from Grace Lutheran School - 8th grade graduating class of '74. On rather
short notice, a mini-reunion was planned and held in Elmhurst, IL. Ten
people, out of a class of 35 or so, managed to attend. Everyone had a
wonderful time, and it was great to see old friends after so long. There
is a link to some pictures from the evening on our friends page.
Naturally, we also got to spend a couple days with family in Oak Park
on the same trip.
Summer went by as it often does here in Georgia - hot, humid, lazy...
watching the Braves and rooting for them as they make their annual march
toward Division Championship, and their inevitable collapse in the
playoffs.
It was in July, however, that we finally got our web-site on-line. You
can view it at www.DonAndTracy.net
- oh wait, guess you already know that if you are reading this...
In September, Don's sister Sue got married! She is now the pretty half
of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis and Susan Hooker. We of course made the trip to
Chicago for the wedding - and a beautiful wedding it was. Don was an
usher, and I doubt anyone would dispute the fact that he pretty much set
the standard for future wedding ushers to aspire to.
It was clear that Sue and Dennis are very much in love, and we wish
them many many years of marital bliss.
The wedding also provided the opportunity for Don's entire family to be
together. As they have gotten so spread out - Don in Atlanta, Pat in
Alaska, Eric in Milwaukee - that doesn't happen very often.
A week after Sue's wedding, we left for our vacation in Grand Cayman.
Despite a hurricane (or maybe with the help of it) we had a terrific trip.
Lots of snorkeling and lounging on the beach.
Immediately upon our return from the Caribbean, we had a new
air-conditioning system installed in the house. What a fun and exciting
day that was! And for only about 3-times the cost of our vacation! Hope we
can do that again real soon...
Now Christmas and the end of the year are upon us. Don is very excited
about a couple gifts he's giving to Tracy. He's not sure what they are,
but she bought a few things, wrapped them up, and put "to Tracy from Don"
tags on them.
For New Year's Eve, we'll be doing a neighborhood progressive dinner.
We did this last year, and it was a great success. The same 19 people from
last year, plus (I think) 10 more. It works out so well, as nobody has to
drive anywhere, it's easy to run home if you forget something, group
baby-sitting can be arranged, and so on. Good friends and neighbors are
just a couple more things we've been blessed with.
Well, that about wraps it up for Tracy and Don Magnusson's 2002.
For anyone reading this, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a
Happy New Year!
